Not In The Mood

Well Looky Looky
I ran my fastest mile today. I was so not expecting to. I didn't even want to run today. I kept putting it off. See what happens when you get your butt up off the couch and do something? Music: Dive In Your Life by NOHA A friend sent this to me and was nagging me about listening to it. So I figured I'd take it out for a spin to avoid catching five across the eyes. Anyway, I didn't know what to expect. It was very upbeat. And I was not in an upbeat kind of mood. Maybe it was the music that got me going in mile 3. I highly recommend it if you don't mind listening to Spanish. I happen to like Spanish. Too bad I only catch every 10th word or so. Breakfast: Toast w/EB and jelly Snack: Fortune cookies and an apple (Am I the only one who actually eats them?) Lunch: Smoothie w/banana, strawberry, blueberry, hemp protein and unsweetened soymilk Dinner: Tempeh burger w/oven baked fries and steamed collards And I'm pretty sure I'll have sugar cookies and tea before bed. Today is Sweet Tooth Day. Activity

Easter Run
I ran later than I wanted to. Let's back track. I was up later than I needed to be. I got such a late start. I hate feeling like my day is wasted. Oh well. I got over it and ran. Today's run was more comfortable than the last. I made it a point to go a bit slower. But I still think I need to slow it down a taste if I'm going to add mileage. I'm starting HM training again. Now I'm not sure I'll run one this year with this setback. But I just want to know that I can if I wanted to. I just wish I could pick up where I left off. Music: Experience: Jill Scott (Not running music at all. But what can I say? I was in the mood for Jilly from Philly.) Breakfast: Tofu scramble w/home fries and toast Lunch: Smoothie w/banana, strawberry, blueberry, unsweetened soymilk and hemp protein Dinner: Tuscan beans w/tempeh and spinach over rice Snack: Rooibos chai w/sugar cookies (Yep, I baked tonight. I had a sweet tooth.) Activity

Nope, not really
I got in more sleep than usual (7hr), but it still wasn't enough for me. I really wasn't feeling it. I got it done though. I'm surprised my heart rate wasn't through the roof because I just couldn't get comfortable. Hopefully, I'll be with it tomorrow. So today's music was part of a playlist put together by my friend JC. Thanks, JC!! Play With The Changes by 4hero Dance Floor by Tha Tao of Groove So Be It by Kelis Listen To The Drums by Outlines Corcovado by Everything But The Girl The Time Is Now by Moloko Cold Shoulder by Adele Activity

Got out late, but got it done
I don't know what's wrong with me, but... Wait a minute, scratch that. I do know what's wrong with me. I've been keeping late night (early morning) hours for weeks now. I just ended up passing out today after I ate breakfast when I should have been running. I woke up later this afternoon and finally went out. I'd feel bad if I didn't get it in especially since today is my day off. So the run was actually a good one. I started out slow, but I really picked up the pace in mile 2. I just felt good. My breathing was on point. I was feeling normal again. Maybe it has something to do with last night's protein dense meal. I always feel better the day after a protein dense dinner. My eating still isn't normal (eating everything but the kitchen sink), but I've been getting my tofu and tempeh on everyday. I crave it. I guess that's a good thing. The bad thing is I'm also craving potato chips and hot sauce. Everything in moderation, right? Music: Carte Blanche, Vol. 1 (a nice laid back cd, probably not good for running, but I like it) Breakfast: OJ and tofu scramble w/home fries, toast, ketchup (nice and greasy just the way I like it...is there any other way?) Post-run: Chocolate soymilk (the perfect recovery drink) Lunch: Undecided (probably a smoothie) Dinner: Jen's greenie tahini bowl w/tempeh Activity
Cool Down = .72mi I ran part of the way. It's just quicker to get home that way.

Stroll in the park
Today was the first day in a long time that I felt somewhat normal. I started out thinking I'd only get in 2mi. I don't know what it is, but I can't get too much further than that. I just have to be patient. Anyway, I've been having a battle with my will power. I haven't had to do that in months. Heading into mile 2, I wanted to stop. But then as I finished mile 2 the feeling of wanting to stop was over. And I just wanted to continue. I felt good. I felt like I did before I jacked my knee up and got sick. I felt like me. It helped that I started out slow. And I switched up the scenery a bit. I always run in the park since it's so close. But I usually run on the park road. I think that's safer since I'm out in the open, especially if I'm running later in the day. I rarely take the path through the woods, but I did today. There were other joggers and walkers out, so I was Kool and the Gang. The path is much tougher than the road too, so I'm surprised my pace is the same as last time. I'm on my way. Music: Elements Beyond, Pt. 1 by Osunlade (I completely forgot I had this on my Zen. It's my first time listening. It's a good album so far. It's more upbeat than his other albums. Good for running.)
