Run 3/27/2009 and stuff

I don't know how you speed demons do it. In any case, I did this run pretty fast. May as well make a workout out of it if it's only 15min long. I ran 30min yesterday on the indoor track. No stats and I didn't feel like posting anyway. I have 90min scheduled tomorrow. If I don't punk out, it will be nice and easy and SLOW.

I'm catching up from last weekend. I was in Philly Friday night for music and drinks. Love me some Xochitl. The margaritas are on point and I don't even like tequila. And I love, LOVE the DJs, the mood, the vibe, the atmosphere, the bartenders, the parking garage right around the corner. It's my lounge spot when I feel like loungin'. Then Saturday, I was in NYC for a friend's birthday. I stayed at my aunt's in Brooklyn that night. Well, actually Sunday morning. I got in around 5am, went to bed at 6am, and was up before 9am. I was beat. I hung there with family all day. I finally got home Sunday night after 9pm. Yeah, long weekend. And since then, I've been waking up at the last possible minute before getting ready for work. I haven't cooked a thing. I haven't even prepared my Yerba Mate chai. The only thing I've done is iron my clothes the night before just so I can roll out of bed 20min or so before I need to leave.

And on that note, I'm starving. So I need to handle that. Peace.

P.S.
Since BiMActive is being a total douche and won't post anything, I've had to copy and paste some stuff with another program. Oh well. At least the info is here.

Running, Weekend Wrap Up and Such

I skipped two 60min runs last week. I know. Bad me. I did make one of them up somewhat from going out Friday night and dancing my ass off. Fluid was featuring reggae and some Indian music. I don't know about you, but I think Indian music is on point and would love to go to a party. Anyway, my upper abs are still a little sore. Oh, and then I spent Sunday doing laundry and cleaning and such. So that counts for something too, right?

Today, I started my new gig. For one, Friday morning, I didn't know I'd be somewhere else today. But things ended up that way. Hopefully for the better. I hated my last job. And I'm sure you've read one too many posts about me having a migraine. Totally work related. Honestly, the skipping of one of last week's runs was work related. Yep, another headache. Damn job.

Anyway, I packed my gear this morning and headed to the Y after work. There were only 15min to get in, so I figured I could deal with the treadmill. Good thing I didn't have to run any longer. I wouldn't have lasted. You know how I feel about the treadmill. I think I'll be on the indoor track for the rest of the week. So yeah, don't expect any stats. They'll just be estimates anyway.

And on that note, I'm out. I have to finish prepping for tomorrow. You know, ironing clothes, making lunch and such. Have a great week!

Run 1/26/09

This is a quick one. I should have blogged earlier. But who cares. I have no stats anyway. I ran on the indoor track for 15min after leaving work with a headache. How nice. I have 30min planned for tomorrow. Hopefully I won't feel like crap after work.

In other news, Michelle mentioned the Brooklyn Half Marathon the other day. I think I'll run it with her. We shall see.

And on that note, I'm going to finish my tea and doze off to some tennis. Night all.

Run 11/24/08

Today was a heatwave compared to the other day. And I ran after the sun went down, so lucky me. My plan was to run this morning. I went to bed around 9ish. Yeah, I was beat. I woke up around midnight, talked to a friend for over an hour, then went back to bed. But I figured I should have been rested in the morning. Well, not so much. The alarm went off, I reset it, and turned over. How do you morning people do it in the winter time? Any tips? Please share.

Okay, so the schedule called for a 15min run. When do I ever follow the schedule? I figured that I could muster up the energy to get in a few minutes on the track. I was not driving all the way to the Y. The time it takes to drive there, I could be finished running. Anyway, it was uneventful. I didn't have my music. It's not often that I do really short runs with music. But today was one of those days I really wanted to hear a certain song. But my mp3 player was giving me issues. So no music. So I'll just leave you with the song I wish I ran to.

Music: Talkin' About by Amerie
If you didn't know, I'm a big percussion fan.

Run 10/27/08

Here's a quick one. It was cold, dark and windy. Actually, it got too dark too soon (probably a storm a'comin'), so I headed for the track. I know, I know, the track is not my friend. But we were finally on good terms. The run was only 15min long. That's not quite long enough to jack anything up. Or maybe it was because I switched back into my Adidas this week. In any case, it was pretty decent.

And on that note, I'm gonna get some grub. I'm starving.

On to new training and such...

So I didn't do the last run of the HM training. Oh well. It's not like I was running an actual HM. I just needed a plan to keep running. And it would be nice to know that I can run a HM if I wanted to.

Now I'm on to Hal Higdon's Winter Training. I don't need to train for something specific. I just need a plan to keep me moving. And It's cool because it goes by time instead of mileage. I'm sure I'll do a better job of pacing myself that way.

Today called for a 15min easy run. Well, I ran not so easy. I started out fast and kept it that way. It still blows my mind that I can run a sub-9:00 anything. Yes, it's a short distance but still it's an improvement. My average pace used to be +/-11:00. My next run will be much slower, believe that. My calf muscles will thank me. They got a serious workout. I stretched and all but they need some more help.

Maybe I'll add a 1.8mi walk to today's numbers. Why 1.8mi? Because that's how far the local bike shop is from my house. Yep, I bought a bike today and I have to go back to pick it up (it's so not fitting in my ride). I blame all of you runners who also blog about biking. It made me miss riding a bike. I was a teenager the last time I seriously road. A couple years ago, I was on a bike and was not comfortable (like I could fall off at any moment). I test road a used Jamis Explorer 3.0 2007 and felt like I could be comfortable again. I loved it. I wanted something that wouldn't feel like actual work (that's what running not so easy is for). I just wanna chillax and possibly burn a couple few calories while I'm at it. Heck, I'm getting older, I need to stay active and this is the perfect way to do it.
