Testing 1-2

So I ran 2 mi yesterday to see how my fibula/knee thingy was working. So far, so good. But then again, maybe I didn't run far enough to see if it was actually okay. I am scheduled for 6mi today. Not sure if it will happen though. We'll just have to see.

If I don't run, I won't feel too bad about it. I went to Silk City last night and cut a rug. It's been a while since I've really danced. I needed that. It's funny because when I'm not running, I feel like I'm gonna get fat overnight. Of course, I know that's not possible, but that's how I feel. I'm just glad that the dancing makes up for the running I haven't been doing. Dancing is still the hardest workout I've ever done for an extended amount of time. It's just so much more fun. If the music is right, I'll dance all night.

Anyway, I'm off to make pancakes.

Better late than never

So I ran last Tuesday. I set out for a 6 miler, but that's not what happened. First, I was thinking I'd burn up from being overdressed. I really should have worn short sleeves and a running skirt. Then I figured I'd stop because all the sudden my stomach was not agreeing with me. But no, that wasn't it. Heading into mile 4 the head of my right fibula started to bother me again. I thought I was through with all that. Well, I'm not. Dang it!! Anyway, I had to stop early to make sure I didn't jack myself up. So far, so good. I have since rested my fibula/knee thingy. I did run today although it wasn't on schedule. Since when do I keep to my running schedule? Anyway, I'll get to that one later.

Today was a warm one. So I took my running skirt out for a spin for the second time. I'm usually self conscious about that kind of stuff, but I didn't want to be uncomfortable. The last time I ran, I felt like my running pants and short sleeved shirt were way too much clothing. I was burning up. The running skirt did me well, but I really should invest in a sleeveless moisture wicking shirt. Yes, the short sleeves were too much for me.

Again, I wasn't into this run. Honestly, I didn't think I would run today since I got up later than usual for a running day. I was tired, had a bit of a headache, could have used some coffee (but I didn't go there), and I had to get to work. It wasn't my best pace, but it got done. I just can't imagine how I'm going to deal with the elements once the heat really kicks in. By then, maybe I'll have sleeveless moisture wicking shirts:)

Music: 4hero Presents Brazilika

I think this is my new favorite album. I love, Love, LOVE this album. It's so me. I could play this everyday and not get tired of it. What can I say? I love Latin music. If you want to go to Brazil but your passport is not together, get this album. You will think you were there.

I need to get back that feeling

Who knew the same path could be new when you run in the opposite direction? Yeah, I needed a change. Change is good. Some inclines were really giving my backside one heck of a workout. I'll have buns of steel soon.

So the run went pretty well. In the 2nd mile, I had to tell myself, "Christie, chill out. You have 3 more miles to go." And honestly, I wasn't sure how I was going to make it to mile 5. It's not like I haven't gone that far and beyond before, but it's not the way it was anymore. I am faster than I was before, but I don't have the same willpower. Running is mind over matter and I'm thinking my mind will give out one day. I guess I'm frustrated starting over again. I just hope I get out of this funk soon. I miss the love of running. What happened to that? Come back.

This looks like my fastest 3 miler so far. I guess that's to be expected if you're running while you're more than slightly annoyed. Yep, my mood is a tad jacked up. No worries. There's always music, wine and sugar cookies.

A Quick Two

I ran a bit too fast today. But it was good knowing that I could do it. It felt so much better to be outside than on the dreadmill. Moisture wicking shirts certainly don't do any good indoors.

In any case, I ran my fastest mile to date today. I'm proud of myself because I really, REALLY didn't want to go out today. It's that special time all women know and hate. But I went out anyway because I know I won't be in the mood to make it up later in the week. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm ready to start my day.

Music: Things Fall Apart by The Roots
I used to wear this album out. I'm so glad to have it back in rotation. I'm not a big hip hop fan, but I can appreciate really good hip hop. Too bad there's not enough of it to go around.
