Two Early

I got in an early run yesterday at 5:45am. I'm not a morning run type of girl, but I had some things to do. For one, I had to wake up at the crack of dawn to drop my parents off at the Philadelphia Airport. Then after work, I was going to hang out in Brooklyn, NY. Yeah, I live in NJ but I'm no where near NY. I'm just a stone's throw from Philly though. In any case, I spent the whole day out and about, either in a car, on a train, or on foot, operating on about 4 hours of sleep. I got in around 6:15am this morning. And I'm really surprised I'm up now. I have a headache which is not surprising. I need to go back to bed. I have a 3.5mi run on the schedule and it's not going to happen the way I'm feeling now. I'm sure I'll be back later to blog about it though.

Running in style

I really should have gone out earlier, but I was out last night and slept in. I didn't get to bed until after 3am. Anyway, the run was not so good. I'm sure a lot had to do with what I ate (or didn't eat) yesterday. I did have a few drinks but I had plenty of water before I went to bed and I woke up hangover free. So I'm thinking that had nothing to do with it. My main problem was that I didn't eat enough. This is what happens when you're lazy and don't cook or at least make PB&J.

In any case, I went out too late (because I got caught up in a Bollywood flick), it was kind of hot, so my plan was to just take it slow. I was Kool and the Gang until I started heading into mile 4. I got stomach cramps (which explains how my splits got jacked up). Maybe it had to do with the coconut water I brought along. I didn't chug it so I'm really not sure. I only finished about half of it. Anyway, I made it through, Thank God. I came back looking like I played 5 sets of tennis. Yeah, I know, the women only play 3 sets at the most, but I was soaked in my new running dress. Thanks to Nettie, I got a discount on this cute little number. I can at least feel cute and stylish while I'm sweating to death.

Well, I'm off to eat some grub. I'm starving.

Music: Silhouette Brown
It's been a while since I ran to music, but I was just in the mood for something smooth and laid back.

Gnat Attack

So the plan was to get my run in after stopping off at Verizon Wireless to get my numbers transferred from my old phone to the replacement phone. Well, come to find out, the replacement they sent me via Fed Ex was bombed out and depleted too. So yeah, I spent over an hour at VZ and still left with the same busted ass phone I came in with (They're sending me another one tomorrow). And about the time I left, the banana I ate was long gone out of my system. I was starving. So I treated myself to Ruby Tuesday's, for one, because I had no food prepared and two, it's been a hot minute since I've had some fries. I'll just run later.

So it rained and whatnot. I went out after that. And of course, it was attack of the gnats. Talk about being so grossed out. I ran breathing through my nose to keep them out of my mouth. I think I ingested one anyway. They were all over me. I spent the run absolutely disgusted. I just wanted to get it over with so I could hurry up and wash the bugs off of me and out of my afro puff (I'm not exaggerating). Okay, so finally the run is over and I'm way on the other side of the park while a thunderstorm is about to plant itself over the town. I could hear thunder and see cracks of lightning. I prayed that I'd make it home safely without being electrocuted. So yeah, I hot foot it home. Thank God I got in just before the storm settled in. Now I'm showered and so fresh and so clean-clean and I still feel itchy. I'm sure it's all in my head. Oh, and for the record, I didn't do push ups or any strength today. I would have afterward if I weren't covered in bugs. I was in a rush to wash the critters off when I got back.

Morning:
Banana coffee cake w/coffee, soymilk and raw sugar (Yep, treated myself to caffeine again to cure yet another headache this morning.)

Afternoon:
Banana
Veggie burger w/fries and steamed broccoli
Tings

Evening:
Coconut water (pre/post-run)
I still haven't cooked. Maybe I'll have the old and faithful PB&J before bed. Or maybe a smoothie. Yeah, I think I'll go with a smoothie.

Here we go again

Nothing much to report. It's still hot, I still woke up with a headache, I still didn't do any push ups, I still didn't eat much (but I'm now starving) and I still ran. The best part was knowing that I only had 2 miles to get in.

Morning:
Coffee w/soymilk and raw sugar
Banana

Afternoon:
Vitamin Water (acai blueberry pomegranate)
Clif Builders bar (mint chocolate)

Evening:
Leftover Chinese
Coconut water (post run)
Chickpea-hijiki salad sammich w/chili lime tortilla chips
